In Egypt, more than any other country, gifts carry the spirit of a land which is deeply steeped in history. Shops open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the winter months. In summer they are open longer. Bazaars and Souks such as Khan el Khalili have more flexible hours.

Bargaining is common practice in all bazaars and is expected, so the starting price is always higher than the expected selling price. Haggle as much as possible - stall owners enjoy the experience and might actually offer you tea and other refreshments during the process!
